2015, PLACE-SPECIFIC ART
An environmental concept was born of the idea to respect history. It refers to the events of World War II, when Rovaniemi was burned down – the tactic of a scorched land.
The concept is located on a part of Jorma Etto road, where the theater, library, police station and city hall of Rovaniemi now exist - reminding the power of reconstruction and survival.
The idea of this environmental art concept is replacing the original lamp-posts with logs that look or at least associates with the burned past. Lighting is installed at the end of the logs, one way or another.
